The finish is worn off near the bottom of my loom

Question: I bought a used David and the varnish is worn off along the bottom of the legs. What products would be good to use to protect and nourish the wood? Anything special I should use to wipe down the David?

A clear lacquer is used on the looms. If it is not too bad I would just lightly wax it.
