Holding Your Shuttle

Question: During our workshop you, presented holding the shuttle with the hand under rather than over the shuttle. Can’t remember more than that but my question is why is it better.

Because you can propel your shuttle further, your hands stay out of the shed and if you have open bottom shuttles the ring finger is perfectly positioned underneath the bobbin to help control your tension which, in turn, helps with your selvedge.
