Cable Brake Hollandia

Question: I am having problems with the cable brake on my Hollandia – when I set on the brake pedal the tension does not release smoothly and sometimes gets stuck. I have had this loom for many years and the brake problem is a recent development. I have checked the loom manual and do have the cable installed properly. And the brake disc is not grooved that I can see. Any suggestions?

Your brake drum could be dirty and that may be what is causing the binding. It is such a straight forward system that I can’t imagine it being anything else. I would take off the brake cable and wipe down the groove that the cable sits in and then I would give is a wax….just rub a piece of paraffin in the groove and reattach the cable.
