Is 8/4 durable enough for upholstery?

Question: I want to weave some fabric to recover the seat on a sling back chair (similar to the Ikea style). Is 8/4 cotton durable enough?

The answer to your question is Yes! 8/4 cotton sett for sturdy plain weave will be just fine, or you could weave it in repp and you could stand on it and it would be fine.
