Squeaky Lamms on David Loom
Question: The David is a super quiet loom, but one sound that is really bothering me is what seems to be creaking lamms (when I press down on some treadles). I’ve tried shifting and moving them, but I don’t know if you or anyone you know has ever encountered sounds there and you simply live with it, or there’s something that can be done.
If you have a squeaky lamm all you have to do is pull it out of its little hole, rub a bar of soap across its end (as a lubricant) and put it back in. That should do it. What you are hearing is a little new metal on wood and it just needs some non-oily lubricant.
