8 Shaft Twill Tie-Up in Double Weave

I have read your answer for “weaving twill on 8 shafts” but I’m not sure this is the same as my question. I am trying to weave a twill on 8 shafts in double-weave i.e. weaving a tablecloth double-wide. I have threaded the heddles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and have tried several different tie-ups but it’s not looking right. And now I’ve just read that the diagonal has to reverse at the back, otherwise, the tablecloth will be one giant chevron… A tie-up diagram would be great. I don’t see it in the Strickler book, or anywhere!

Usually, the layers are threaded alternately and the direction of the twill is changed on one layer. However, you already have your loom threaded to a straight draw which means that your layers have to be 1,3,5,7 against 2,4,6,8 I ‘think’ that this tie-up might work but I’m not 100% sure. Give it a try, what do you have to lose? And……, let me know if it works.
